Illuminize Peel from SkinMedica offers a novel approach to very superficial chemical peeling utilizing a new generation of alpha hydroxyl acids (Mandelic Acid and Malic Acid) in combination with Phytic Acid and commonly used peeling agents (Salicylic Acid and Resorcinol) to maximize skin rejuvenating effects with low irritation.
lluminize Peel™ is right for you if you have sun damaged skin, fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentary irregularities. It is also appropriate if you have never tried a chemical peel or you are looking for a gentle, very superficial peel to increase the luminosity of your skin.

Avoid sun exposure, electrolysis, waxing, and depilatory creams 1 week prior to treatment. Discontinue Retin-A, Differin, alpha/beta hydroxyl acids and benzyl peroxide 2-3 days prior to treatment and 1 week after treatment. All makeup and lotions need to be removed prior to treatment. Men should avoid shaving the day of the treatment.

From start to finish, the procedure should take approximately 20 minutes.
In this treatment, a chemical solution is gently applied to
the skin, which causes it to peel. The skin is thoroughly cleansed
with an agent that removes excess oils and the eyes and hair are protected.
The active agent is then applied to small areas on the skin, enabling
new, regenerated skin to appear.
During the procedure, most patients experience a warm to somewhat hot sensation
that lasts about five to ten minutes.

This peel is gentle enough to use every two weeks until the desired results are achieved. Results are cumulative and maximum benefits are seen with a series of 3-6 peels.
